A local business spread holiday cheer Saturday by giving gifts to 57 families.Irish Griffin-Potts is the owner of Elite Realty and Investment Group in Pearl.”As the Lord blessed us, we would like to just bless back. As a small business owner, we came in as a group and volunteered to bring in items. I had maybe four sponsors who donated for the cause,” Griffin-Potts said.Some of the families were referred to the business by members of the community.A friend of Keela Polk and her two daughters signed her up for the giveaway.”She said that she wanted to sign my baby up for the Elite Realty giveaway and I said, why not. As you can see, my kids are happy. I’m happy as long as they are happy,” Polk said.Griffen-Potts said she started hosting the giveaway five years ago because there was once a time when she was the one in need of help. “As a single parent years ago I have been in situations where I may have been homeless or had less than what I needed for my children and someone helped me. It is my way of paying it back to families that need it now,” Griffen-Potts said.Polk said she is looking forward to seeing the smiles on her children’s faces on Christmas morning. “That’s is going to be the whole point of it all when Christmas morning gets here and they are able to say ‘I got this, oh I got that.’ I am going to make sure that they send some kind of thank you car and they call, even if we have to come back by here just for them to show that they are appreciative,” Polk said.In total, Griffen-Potts said her company wrapped more than 225 gifts for the giveaway.
